Dead Media Hour Projects

Dead Media Hour is a creative project dedicated to unearthing forgotten analog media in an effort to translate their rich histories for current audiences. This way of working grew out of being at home during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic with a longtime collection of unique film, video, and audio. Because I had equipment to digitize and study those physical materials, I was able to activate previously inert images and sounds, transforming them from outdated technology into fresh conduits to the past. Some of these images are edited into my own projects, others are shared as-is on the internet or licensed to other makers who can wield them more appropriately. Dead Media Hour is aimed at celebrating forgotten people, places, and events while undermining the forces in our political culture that are actively seeking to constrain history.
